Thursday 1st March – St David’s Day Celebration

On Thursday 1st March, St Tydfil Shopping Centre will be helping the Merthyr community get patriotic by giving away free daffodils to mark St David’s Day.

The centre is inviting residents to come and celebrate the Welsh national day with them when staff will be dressing in traditional costumes and handing out flowers from 10am (while stocks last).

Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:

Our annual daffodil giveaway has become a popular part of Merthyr’s St David’s Day celebrations and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the centre to help us all commemorate our Heritage.

Thursday 17th to Thursday 31st May – Love Your Local Market fortnight
We will be running a competition to give someone the chance to have a stall in the Indoor Market for the duration of the two-week campaign.

Saturday 16th June – Your Community Day
Our popular Your Community Day returns giving local people the opportunity to find out more about fantastic groups and activities available in the Merthyr area.

Saturday 25th August – Summer Holiday Treasure Hunt
To celebrate the end of the school summer holiday, children will be able to search for the holiday posters in shop windows and pop in to pick up a treat.

Saturday 27th October – Safe Trick or Treating
Children will be invited to come to the centre dressed in their favourite Halloween costume and go Trick or Treating in a safe environment. Posters of pumpkins will be hidden in shop windows and children can search for a poster and go in to the shop to pick up a sweet treat.

TBC – Santa’s Grotto launch
Santa Claus will be arriving at his grotto.

TBC – Christmas Craft Fair
Local crafters will be in the shopping centre selling handmade items.
